Radar

I’ve never cared for large displays at the helm and since we were already using a PC at the Nav station for electronic charting I purchased and installed a Nobeltec Insight Radar.  The small Radome was installed on the mast and data was fed to our NAV PC via an ethernet cable and overlaid on our electronic charts at the Nav Station.

The system consists of a software feature pack that is installed with the Nobeltec Visual Nav Suite, a radar scanner (Radome) and a bidirectional data interface.  I chose a small 17″ 2kw system and installed it low on the mast on a Kato Radar mount.

After selling Grai’nne the new owner purchased a small Garmin GPSMAP 742 plotter and I installed a new Radar unit.
