Miscellaneous Plumbing

After installing our Lighthouse anchor windlass I realized that we needed an anchor chain washdown.  I installed the pump in the starboard middle under settee compartment and ran the plumbing from the raw water manifold up under the forward berth to the anchor pulpit.

After a hose barb  fitting blew out of the PVC hot water manifold one evening I made a new one using brass fittings.

To make room in the area under the port settee I removed the factory stock accumulator. The accumulator was used to maintain water pressure and reduce pump pulses from the water ump at the taps.  After removing the accumulator I installed a demand water pump and used all of the additional space for several other projects.

I added several type of water filters to the boats fresh water system.  The first was a small Pentek housing with a 20 micron pleated filter element.  This filter removed small sediment particles that were prone to blocking the faucet aerators in the head and galley and also the shower heads the cockpit and head.  in the  The water filter removed small sediment that would occasionally block the fresh water aerators at the galley and head sinks, shower head and cockpit washdown sprayer.

The second filter is a drinking water type filter that is installed at the galley sink with a dedicated water tap.  The filters are  simple screw on units that are installed under the galley sink and that can be easily changed.

The third filter is a standard Pentek 10″ filter housing with garden hose fittings attached.  We use this housing and a charcoal filter to remove chlorine from any  “city” water, we might put into our water tank.   We used a KX Matrix +CTO/2 Carbon block filter in the 10″ housing.   We use this same filter with the water maker to remove any residual chlorine when performing a fresh water membrane flush of the system.
